Some winters hit different. The story behind the Sustainability Collection
Not because they’re bad, but because they’re honest. You look up the valley. You watch the storms split. You refresh the forecast like it’s going to change its mind. And the mountain you know so well feels… quieter.
That’s the low tide season we’re in right now.
Less snow. More dirt. More rock showing earlier than it should. It’s the kind of year that makes you notice what you normally take for granted — cold nights, deep storms, the rhythm of winter, the simple fact that the mountains still feel like winter when you step outside.
We’re not here to be dramatic. We’re not here to preach. We’re here to call it what it is:
The places we love are changing.
And the older you get, the more you realize “loving the outdoors” can’t just be a vibe. If this lifestyle means anything to us — skiing, hunting, camping, riding, walking the dog in a hoodie at 6 a.m. — then preserving it has to show up in the decisions we make behind the scenes, not just the photos we post.
That’s what this collection is.
Not a trend. Not a marketing angle. A line in the sand.
Why this drop exists
It started in the simplest way possible: people kept asking for a black hat.
And honestly, fair. Black goes with everything. It’s timeless. It’s clean. It works in the street and it works in the mountains. You wanted something you could throw on every day and not think about.
But when we sat down to make it, we couldn’t ignore the bigger picture. Not in a year like this. Not in a season that’s reminding us how fragile winter can be.
So we did what we’re trying to do more of going forward:
We chose better materials.
This drop is made with 100% Recycled Eco Black Polar Fleece, thick, durable, built for actual use. Not a token “eco” fabric that feels thin or performs like a compromise. This is fleece that holds up, keeps you warm, and lasts.
The goal wasn’t to create a “sustainable product.”
The goal was to create a real product — and make it in a way we can stand behind.
The shift we’re committing to
Outpst has always been about earning the story.
Not pretending. Not posing. Actually doing the thing. Making the gear. Wearing it ourselves. Building it with intention.
And that’s exactly why sustainability matters here — because the brand only exists because the outdoors exists.
This year we made it a goal to source mainly sustainable, recycled fabrics wherever we can. Most of the solid fabrics on the site are already made from recycled materials, and we’re continuing to push it further as we grow.
We’re not perfect. Nobody is. But we can improve our inputs, we can be honest about what we use, and we can choose better when we have the option.
That’s what progress looks like.
More than product: putting weight behind it
A portion of profits from the Sustainability Collection is going to a nonprofit that supports the fight against climate change.
Because if you’re going to say you care, you should be willing to back it up.
This isn’t about guilt. It’s not about “saving the planet” with one purchase. It’s about being part of a bigger effort — and using the brand as a vehicle for something real.
Small moves add up when a lot of people make them.
What we want this collection to represent
This collection is for the person who notices the difference.
The person who’s been here long enough to recognize the shift. The person who still shows up even when conditions aren’t perfect. The person who loves winter so much they’re willing to protect it — not loudly, not performatively, but consistently.
It’s a simple black hat, made from 100% recycled fleece.
But it’s also a reminder:
If you love the outdoors, the best way to prove it is to take care of it.
Low tide seasons have a way of forcing clarity. They show you what matters. They strip away the illusion that this is guaranteed.
And that’s exactly why we made the Sustainability Collection.
Not because it’s trendy — because it’s necessary.
They’re live now.
Help us protect the places that built us.
Snag a hat.
